All MessageCenter users showing in address book

Postby iexposure » 17.11.2009 22:27

I upgraded to Phlymail MessageCenter 3.07.22 and now all my users are seeing all the other users on the system. I would like to have them only see what they have defined for addresses.

Thanks.

Login to the config interface, go to the users' management. There you can select the visibility of the contact record assigned to the specific user.

Do you use Global Contacts at all?

We have about 500 users and all of them I have checked say that their Contact Visibility is private. Is there perhaps something in their profile configuration in the database that is missing this setting? Perhaps as a result of these users being created before the upgrade?

I have a single Global Contact defined for our company support email.

Thanks for your help.

Please run the following SQL in your database:
Code: Select all
UPDATE phlymail_adb_adr SET `visibility`="private" WHERE `type`="user";

This assumes, that the table prefix is "phlymail_", if not, please change the table name accordingly. Afterwards all contact entries of your users should be set to private, thus not visible to others.

I suggest, you make a backup of the table before running the SQL.

It is a bit different now. Most of the entries are blank, but some of them are filled in. I checked the table and all of the rows are marked as private.

Give me more details, please. What rows are blank, what's filled in? All rows are private?

Sorry about that, not very clear on what I was talking about.

The entries in the users address books are still there, however they are now mostly blank as opposed to having all the users in phlymail listed. All of the entries show up as global contacts when there is only one global contact defined in the admin interface.

However, the rows in the table that you had me modify all have private for the visibility column.

That means, that all the global contacts, which have been the entries for the users before, still show up, but without any information (besides the icon for "global contact")?
